The Honduras & Uganda Sipi Falls Coffee Beans Stories
Discerning coffee lovers value quality, locally roasted fresh coffee beans which complement their healthy and earth-friendly lifestyles. They understand that investing in responsibly sourced, sustainable coffee beans provides far-reaching benefits to the environment, local communities, as well as to their own health.
The Honduras contribution:
The original coffee farm in the highlands of Comayagua, Honduras, was started by two Rodrigues’ brothers. We are grateful that five generations and 19 descendants later, their coffee-growing tradition lives on. Today each family member owns and operates their own farm.
Around sixty years ago, another family started growing coffee in the mountains of San Marcos, Ocotepeque. Don Israel Ventura was one of the first coffee producers in this mountainous area. His eldest son, Lurvin expanded on it by establishing a dry mill and processing plant where both the Rodriguez and Ventura families process and export their coffees.
The Uganda Sipi Falls contribution:
The Uganda Sipi Falls coffee beans are strictly organically grown in the Bufumbo sub-country, Mbale district of Eastern Uganda.
The Bufumbo Organic Farmers Association are certified organic under the following regulatory bodies:
- European Union Regulation (EU)
- Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS), and North American Organic Program (NOP) by CERES
- Fair Trade by FLOCERT, and
- Socially under UTZ/Rain Forest Alliance by CERES
They currently have with a membership of 653 smallholder coffee farmers. The coffee farmers from this region have succeeded in producing superior quality 100% Arabica coffee beans.
Coffee lovers from around the world are grateful that this joint venture has been successful.
